Calling all hip-hop / spoken word / social justice educators!!!
This is one of my favorite weekends in New York City. It’s the Preemptive Education Conference hosted by Urban Word NYC, Teachers College, and NYU Steinhardt.
The next few days are packed full of workshops and panels, featuring scholars, teaching artists, young people, teachers, and community activists.
I’m doing a workshop from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 26 at New York University. My workshop is titled, “Pimping Butterflies and Teaching Stars: From Toni Morrison to Kendrick Lamar; A Critical Approach To Reading Hip-Hop As Literature.”
All of Saturday’s workshops at NYU take place at:
Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life
238 Thompson St. (btw. W 3rd and Washington Square S)
