Upcoming Hip-Hop Education Workshop in NYC on Thursday 10/15

Hey all,

I’m doing a hip-hop education workshop in New York City next Thursday, October 15 at Spreadhouse Coffee on the Lower East Side. This workshop was supposed to take place in the summer, but it was moved to this fall date due to venue issues.

Spreadhouse Coffee is located on Suffolk St. between Rivington and Delancey. I hope you’ll join us for an incredible evening of building, growing, and learning through hip-hop education. Below are details for the workshop, including a link where you can sign up!

What you will learn:

This will be a workshop and discussion that demonstrates some of the best practices in hip-hop and spoken word education. This will involve warm-up games from Theater of the Oppressed, viewing of highlights from Kendrick Lamar’s visit, studying of student poems, close-reading exercises with hip-hop lyrics, and creative writing prompts.

Where:

116 Suffolk St. (between Rivington and Delancey)
New York, NY, 10001

When:

  1. is there a possibility of these being webcast or recorded for future viewing?

  2. Any chance you will host one December 19 – 21? If not (as the possibility, I know, is slim), I reference Ms. Janae’s post. Thank you! Great post by the way!
